"I would say that the Førde festival is now one of the most important world music festivals, a real world class act with the intimacy of a local environment."

7. - 10. july 2011
Førde International Folk Music Festival (FIFF) is an annual festival, which was first held in 1990, and is the biggest event of its kind in Norway. It kicks off in the first half of July and offers a highly varied programme of concerts, courses, exhibitions, children's activities and walks/trips in this spectacular part of Western Norway. The main arena for the festival is the cultural centre, Førdehuset, which houses several concert auditoriums. Festival events also take place at the museum, galleries, hotels, in churches and out on the town's streets and sidewalks. FIFF participates in a Nordic festival cooperation and is also a member of the international festival network. The festival focuses on a particular theme each year. In addition to the theme performerss you will also see a diversity of performers from near and far. Naturally, our own special Norwegian folk music is a prominent feature on the festival programme.
